Paranormal Experience, True Crime Hauntings and Amy Bruni

The city in which I live was fortunate to be one of the stops on TV host, writer, and producer Amy Bruni’s speaking tour. The event’s theme was “Walking with Ghosts: An Evening of True Crime Hauntings”. Bruni took time during the event to bring up several true crime events in American history. These events were severe enough to leave behind the potential of paranormal activity. Bruni and others have investigated the places she speaks about. I prefer not to go into detail on which ones to avoid spoilers.

What brings me to this post is not how much my wife and I enjoyed the event. Instead, as we attended the event, I felt like I was under attack. What? How? Explain yourself. Are all the things people may be saying as they read this far.

We had seats in what was row K (11th row back from the stage). The seats had a direct view of the stage. If at a football game, I’d call these great seats about dead middle with the fifty-yard line. In this case, a direct view of the setup on the stage. There was the added bonus of no one sitting in the seats in front of us.

As the photo shows, there was a chair in which Ms. Bruni would sit and read to the audience. She would inform those in attendance of the true crime she was speaking about. There would also be information on what was found as she investigated the location.

In front of the stage, there were several items on display. These included several Ouija boards, a few dolls, photos, and a spirit trumpet.

I am setting the scene for what I am about to write about.

The audience entered about thirty minutes before the show started. This gave people time to find their seats. The audience also had time to go down and view the items. They had been set up in front of the stage.

After finding our seats, we sat down and watched the viewing line grow. As we talked, I’d look down at the items as they were a focal point. They were right down in front of me by the stage. It was about this time that I went from feeling fine to something was off.

I felt an energy entering my body. A small headache started, and all I can say is that a buzzing type of feeling filled my upper body. I can describe it as a feeling you get when sitting still for too long. You turn your neck, and a tingle engulfs you. The body is not ready for the stretch. In this case, that wasn’t the case for me. I had to turn to the left or right and not focus on the table for that feeling to stop.

My wife had gone down to the table earlier and got in line. I did as well, but closer to the start time. I felt fine walking down the side aisle area to the front. I was not looking at the table as I went down there. There were about four people in front of me at that time. I got to the table and took a few photos. I had to rush past a couple that was in front of me. I was feeling even more off, and a headache was building. Thankfully, I had time to excuse myself and use a nearby restroom to reset myself. I got back to my seat within a few minutes of the show starting.

Amy Bruni did a great job covering a myriad of topics. She also took time to point out the items placed on the table in front of the stage. I was fine as long as I focused on what she was doing and did not look at the table. She gave information on the Ouija boards, the rare photos, and then she did it. She picked up the Spirit trumpet and held it in her arms. She swung it in a manner as if it were being used. My body lit up when the trumpet came into full view, and thankfully, I kept myself composed. It felt as if a wave of “data” came rushing at me. The data all wanted to rush through me, or hoped I’d figure out what it was “telling” me.

She put the trumpet down after a few seconds, and I felt my body relax. I thought, well, that was the culprit, and I could enjoy the rest of the show. I was wrong. Ms. Bruni then got into explaining the dolls on the far left of the table. The smaller one had a head that may turn its direction by the end of the show. The larger one was on “probation”. It was a newer item, and at a recent show, someone fell in front of it. One individual sprained their ankle so badly that they had to be taken out in a wheelchair. I made the mistake of focusing on the doll, and those feelings rushed back. The difference, not as severe as it was with that trumpet.

Now, what is the point of this post, you ask. It was something that happened to me. I am in NO WAY warning people from seeing Amy Bruni’s tour. Instead, consider this a cautionary tale.

I’ve always been a fan of the paranormal. There are, of course, things that can be explained away through science and reasoning. Yet, I’ve had my experiences in life that I cannot explain. So, yes, I am a believer.

The other reason for this post is to draw attention to the tour itself. It seems Amy Bruni is not only doing this speaking tour, but also other events. We learned of her company, Strange Escapes, where people can sign up for in-depth events. They include lectures, other well-known paranormal personalities, and more. I admit it is something I plan to look into as they do not only feature the US. The events also take place overseas.

This is in no way a plug for Amy Bruni. Instead, it’s more of a plug for ways to experience the paranormal. Others do these types of speaking tours. There are paranormal events, like ghost tours. The post was meant to warn folks to be prepared. You may find yourself experiencing more than you thought you were paying for.

Oh, and one last note, if you do find the ability to attend her Tour. There is, of course, some merchandise for sale. My wife had to pick up a copy of her book, “Food To Die For”.  A description found online has this for the book:

Discover tantalizing recipes, spine-tingling stories, and historic photos from the most notoriously haunted locations across America in this fun and fascinating cookbook. Paranormal investigator and Kindred Spirits co-host Amy Bruni leads you through eerie hotels, haunted homes, hellish hospitals, and spooky ghost towns, giving you stories and a recipe from each place.
